Award-winning short documentary, PHIL’S CAMINO tell the story of free spirit Phil, a man living with Stage 4 cancer and dreaming of walking the 500 mile spiritual pilgrimage Camino de Santiago across Spain. Physically unable to make the trip, he does the next best thing: he builds a camino in the forest behind his house, starts to walk, and traces his progress on a map. Phil’s journey is one of hope, acceptance, and freedom, and is sure to inspire anyone who has ever dreamed of doing something that sounded impossible. Upon reaching ‘Santiago de Compostela’ — without ever leaving his backyard — Phil’s health is so improved (he still has tumors, no clean scan, just no growth) his doctors grant him a ‘chemo holiday’, or permission to miss one chemo treatment. He now has 28 days to go and walk the ancient route in Spain. Along the way he realizes his true pilgrimage is the one he travels within. Through the act of walking, Phil learns to stop fighting to cure his cancer, and embraces physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. For those who have the tremendous privilege of taking part in Phil's journey, it is evident that he does not allow circumstances to define him; but views cancer as a catalyst to a life of rich moments in the tension of suffering and gratitude. Phil’s Camino captures Phil’s story from Vashon to Spain and back again. His determined character, life of simplicity, and joy in the everyday presents a story of what it means to live vibrantly in the face of adversity....

STRAWS  is a powerful documentary film about straws and other plastic pollution that inundate our waterways and oceans. The film entertains and inspires action. It illustrates how individuals, groups and business owners around the globe are reducing plastic straw use through education, outreach, policy development and utilization of non-plastic alternatives. With colorful straw history animation and segments narrated by Oscar winner Tim Robbins, STRAWS  is funny and accessible. The film provides an excellent hook for starting conversations about plastic pollution. It leaves audiences with a clear understanding of the problems caused by plastic pollution and empowers individuals to be part of the solution. Five hundred million plastic straws are used and discarded every day in the United States alone. There is no recyclable plastic straw option and they do not decompose. These straws find their way into landfills or are littering our waterways and oceans. And this only represents a fraction of the entire plastic pollution problem our planet is facing. Straws may seem small and insignificant on their own, but they add up and leave an impact on a global scale. Straws are such a simple thing to make a personal change about, and alternatives are readily available, such as paper, metal and bamboo. Once people become aware of the plastic straw problem, they naturally begin thinking more critically about single use plastics in general. There’s a rising tide of individuals, businesses and public officials that are stepping up to be a part of the solution; and to help stop the use of plastic straws. STRAWS, the film, can amplify this movement and inspire a ripple effect, creating a sea of change around the world.
